The Royal State Archives in Rome was established with the decree of 30 December 1871, n. 605 with the task of preserving the papers of the central organs of the Papal State, to which are also added the acts of the judicial and notarial archives.

The State Archives of Salerno are Italian State Archives located in Salerno . Founded in 1934, they contain 100,000 volumes of paper documents and over a thousand parchments, as well as a library of approximately 24,000 volumes.

The Central Archives of the State are the main national archives of Italy. They were created in 1875 under the name of Royal Archives. They took their present name in 1953. They are located in EUR, Rome and are put under the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture.

The Archive of the Neapolitan Archbishopric had its origin, according to a script of 1739 preserved in the same Archive, in the year 1598. The writing dates back to that year a decree of the Congregation of Bishops and Regulars with which it was ordered that all the writings, acts and processes of the Archbishop vel Curia were to be placed and kept in the particular rooms intended for this purpose by the Most Eminent Archbishop Gesualdo, with two keys, one to be kept by the Chancellor of the Curia and the other by the Vicar General or by another person designated by the Archbishop.

The State Archives of Naples, with its more than 50,000 linear meters of book and document shelving, is of fundamental importance for the history of southern Italy from the 10th century to today. The archives are housed in the cloisters of the Church of Saints Severino and Sossio.

The Diocese of Rome is the ecclesiastical district under the direct jurisdiction of the Pope, who is Bishop of Rome as well as the supreme pontiff and leader of the worldwide Catholic Church.

The concattedrals of our Diocese, the parishes, the houses of the clergy, the training institutes and those of consecrated life in Anagni and Alatri hold and preserve cultural assets of inestimable value. The numerous works of art and the musical heritage, which we find in our archives, express the aesthetic of the spirituality of this particular Church; documents and books are the tools of tradition and memory of our ecclesial communities.

The Historical Archive of the Diocese of Civita Castellana (ASDCC) is a conservation institute that collects documentary material produced by ecclesiastical bodies (diocesan curias, chapters, vicars forane, parishes, brotherhoods, ecclesial movements, etc.) of the current Diocese of Civita Castellana. Inside there are also personal and family archives that have a notable relevance for the events of the local Church and for the history of the territory.

The Italian Catholic Diocese of Civitavecchia-Tarquinia is in Lazio, and has existed under this name since 1986. The diocese is directly subject to the Holy See.

The Italian Catholic Diocese of Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino has existed since 1986. In that year, the Diocese of Ferentino was united into the Diocese of Veroli-Frosinone; which was the name of the historic Diocese of Veroli from 1956. It is immediately subject to the Holy See.

The Diocesan Historical Archive of Gaeta has storage rooms and a space for consultation. It underwent an effective reorganization only starting from 1997, at the time not simple, considering the lack of expertise to which the large amount of documents had been managed, moved, distributed in previous years, without taking into account archival problems. The arrangement concerned the documentary material up to 1799. Recent documents are in the process of being sorted. The Capitular Archive of the Cathedral Basilica holds the medieval parchments, the Choral Books, the notarial deposit and various funds in the process of being arranged.

The Italian Catholic Diocese of Latina-Terracina-Sezze-Priverno, in Lazio, has existed under this name since 1986. It is the historic Diocese of Terracina, Priverno e Sezze, whose existence was confirmed by Pope Honorius III in 1217, as a joining of the Diocese of Terracina with the Diocese of Priverno and the Diocese of Sezze under a single bishop. It is immediately subject to the Holy See.

The suburbicarian see of Porto-Santa Rufina is a seat of the Catholic Church in Italy, suffragan of the diocese of Rome belonging to the ecclesiastical region of Lazio. In 2019 it had 386,000 baptized out of 437,000 inhabitants. The see is vacant, while the title belongs to Cardinal Beniamino Stella.

The Rieti diocese was established when the process of spreading Christianity, started from the first centuries in the entire Rieti-Sabine territory, was definitively complete: the series of Rieti bishops, inaugurated according to tradition around the middle of the first century by St. Prosdocimo, only occasionally records the names of other prelates at the head of the local Church.

The Diocese of Sabina – Poggio Mirteto is a suburbicarian see of the Holy Roman Church (which means it carries the rare rank of cardinal-bishop ) and a diocese of the Catholic Church in Italy in the Roman province of the Pope.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Sora-Cassino-Aquino-Pontecorvo is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Lazio region.

The archive contains the documents produced by the Curia and by the other ecclesiastical offices and bodies belonging to the Tiburtine Diocese. In addition to a few precious documents relating to the fifteenth century, the archival heritage of greatest consistency can be dated to the sixteenth-twentieth century and consists mainly of folders, registers, volumes and loose files, for a total of about 220 linear meters.

The Diocesan Historical Archive of Viterbo collects a huge amount of documentary material (about 26,000 units dated between the 14th and 20th centuries). In fact, what is usually defined as a diocesan archive consists, in reality, not only of the documents produced by the Curia and the bishop, but also of the documents of various entities that have made and are part of the diocese. Therefore, there are also numerous archives which over the years have been aggregated to the diocesan archive.

The Diocese of Acerra is a Roman Catholic ecclesiastical territory in Campania, southern Italy, eight miles east of Naples, in the area once called Terra Laboris (Liburia). It has existed since the 11th century. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Naples.

The Diocese of Alife-Caiazzo is a Roman Catholic ecclesiastical territory in Campania, southern Italy, created in 1986. In that year the historic Diocese of Alife was united with the Diocese of Caiazzo. The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Naples.

The Archdiocese of Amalfi-Cava de Tirreni is an archdiocese of the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church, with its episcopal see at Amalfi, not far from Naples. It was named Archdiocese of Amalfi until parts of the Diocese of Cava e Sarno were merged with it on September 30, 1986.

The Italian Catholic Diocese of Ariano Irpino-Lacedonia is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Benevento. In 1986 the Diocese of Ariano and the Diocese of Lacedonia merged to form the current diocese of Ariano Irpino-Lacedonia, which comprises twenty towns in the province of Avellino, three in that of Benevento, and one in the province of Foggia.

The Catholic Diocese of Avellino is in the territory of the Irpini, some 55 km (30 mi) east of Naples and 23 km (14 mi) south of Benevento, in the modern Republic of Italy. It is suffragan to the archdiocese of Benevento. The bishop of Avellino, along with the bishop of S. Agata de Goti, had the privilege, recognized at the provincial synod of 1654, of being summoned to attend upon the death and obsequies of the archbishop of Benevento.

The Diocese of Aversa is a Roman Catholic ecclesiastical territory in Campania, southern Italy, created in 1053. It is situated in the Terra di Lavoro (Liburia), seven miles north of Naples, and eight miles south of Capua. It is suffragan of the Archdiocese of Naples.

The Italian Catholic Archdiocese of Benevento has a long history; it now has five suffragan dioceses: the diocese of Ariano Irpino-Lacedonia, the diocese of Avellino, the diocese of Cerreto Sannita-Telese-Sant Agata de Goti, the Territorial Abbey of Montevergine, and the archdiocese of Sant Angelo dei Lombardi-Conza-Nusco-Bisaccia.

The Italian Catholic Diocese of Capaccio was an historic diocese in Campania. It was erected in the 12th Century and in 1851 became the Diocese of Capaccio and Vallo. Since 1945 it has been the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vallo della Lucania.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Capua is an archdiocese (originally a suffragan bishopric) of the Roman Catholic Church in Capua, in Campania, Italy, but its archbishop no longer holds metropolitan rank and has no ecclesiastical province. Since 1979, it is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Napoli, i.e. no longer has its own ecclesiastical province nor metropolitan status.

The Diocese of Ischia is a Roman Catholic ecclesiastical territory in Campania, southern Italy. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Naples. The diocese comprises the entire island of Ischia, which contains seven communes divided into two circumscriptions. In 1743, the population was about 4,000. The city of Ischia constituted one single parish, with two religious houses of men and one of women. In 2018, the population of the town of Ischia was 20,118.

The Italian Catholic Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino in Umbria, has existed since 1986. In that year the historic Diocese of Assisi, known as the birthplace of Francis of Assisi, was combined with the Diocese of Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino. The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Perugia-Città della Pieve.

The Diocese of Nola is a Roman Catholic diocese in Italy, suffragan of the Archdiocese of Naples. Its seat is the Campanian city of Nola, now a suburb of Naples. Its cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption (Italian: Basilica Cattedrale di Maria SS Assunta).

The historic Archdiocese of Salerno was in existence from the tenth century, having been elevated from a sixth-century diocese. The Diocese of Acerno was combined with the archdiocese in 1818.

The Italian Catholic Archdiocese of Sorrento-Castellammare di Stabia in Campania, has existed in its current form since 1986. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Naples, having lost its status as a metropolitan in 1979. The Diocese of Castellammare di Stabia was suppressed, and its territory united with the Archdiocese of Sorrento, in 1986. In 2014, in the diocese of Sorrento there was one priest for every 1,503 Catholics.

The Diocese of Teano-Calvi is a Roman Catholic ecclesiastical territory in Campania, southern Italy, created in 1986. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Naples. The historic Diocese of Teano and Diocese of Calvi Risorta were united in 1818, forming the diocese of Calvi e Teano.

The Italian Latin Catholic Diocese of (Diano-) Teggiano-Policastro, in Campania, has existed since 1850, under its present name since 1986. In that year the Diocese of Diano-Teggiano was united with the diocese of Policastro.

The Italian Catholic Diocese of Vallo della Lucania, in Campania, has existed under this name since 1945. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno.
